Re: Jennings late report

On the FF…I was headed into BassPro 15 months ago with every intention of buying a Humminbird outfit that seemed to have all the features I required. Luckily the staffer was familiar with both the Humminbird and also the Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 73sv, 7" Keyed-Assist Touchscreen Chartplotter. He pointed ...

Cap on Friday 4/18

Well, we decided to get the boat wet again. Wanted to go to Cap at least one more time before the water is too low to launch. Per SD Lakes website, we are 4.5 feet from no launch. They report levels once a week, so I am sure it's closer to no launch that that. The lake is about 4-5 feet lower that ...

Otay 4/20

I only had about 3 hours to fish, but I'm camped so close to Otay I didn't want to miss the opportunity. Hey, it's better than couch surfing for my mental health haha.

I got on the water at 7am and decided it felt like a treble hook kind of day. I ended up with 5 jerkbait fish and 1 worm fish. All ...

4/23-Lucky and Thankful

I was a little emotional as it would have been my fathers birthday today and the reason I went fishing. My father took me fishing almost every weekend when I was growing up. I learned so much aboutfishing and always loved out fishing outings. I try to get out and fish each year on his birthday.
So ...

4/25- Over the hills and far away

Well, I did go over some hills and the lake is far away as compared to how close Murray is to me. Anyway, headed up to Donald and
Kiefer's lake where McFish and Fisheromen were already out on the water. I quickly headed over to work an area where McFish was
and it seemed within no time he had a ...

Murray back on top 4/28

It was overcast and chilly early this morning at Murray. I caught 4 fat clones on topwater early before the wind came up and forced me to move to the bottom.

I posted my favorite BFS topwater baits in the BFS section for those interested. All the topwater fish today came courtesy of the tiny ...

4/29- Lake Miramar AM Session

Grabbed some gear and tossed it in my kayak and headed away from Murray and up to Lake Miramar this morning.
Not a real early start as I was on the water just before 7 and saw only one other angler fishing in a float tube. The water was glassy and nothing broke on the surface so I went to my usual ...

Otay wed 30

Misty overcast morning which was perfect for top water action. Went across the dock and got one on the popper second cast. Worked along the way to Harvey and got a few more, blow up on a frog but missed.
Looked like there was a tournament because there were 20 boats down Harvey! Found a flat area ...

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

Enjoyed your video on YouTube and I keep thinking about how close that hook was to your eye. Thank goodness it landed where it did. Anyway, thanks for sharing with us and tight lines always. :-)

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

Damn. So gnarly. I’ve met two people in my life that lost eyes to swivels. Good call on ER…not sure if I’d want to push that through!

Not what I planned.....

A quick change of plans. After just hammering them last week, I was sure I knew the pattern for today...nope! Started out throwing the same stuff as last week, only got me 2 small fish.I changed up some baits, didn't really help! I noticed a few busters out in the middle of the lake, figuring they ...

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

Wow that hook that close to your eyeball is super scary, I have a problem putting eye drops in my eyes I would freak out if a hook was so close to my eyes.
As others have said I’ll never take my sunglasses off while fishing.
I’ve had hooks thru my thumb and fingers and a hard time getting them out ...

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

Ahh, the ole hook in the face. I've had my share of urgent care visits, so much that I usually tell the doctors what to do, since they spend 30 minutes trying to yank and tug. One time, the ER doc says, "I know a trick."

I respond, "If it's the string trick, it's not gonna work, we tried. That's ...

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

I’d like to think you’re not a fisherman until you’ve had to extract a big rapala from a body part in a rocking boat offshore or walked into an urgent care with a crankbait hanging of a similar body part. The eye thing, however, that was close to being a gamechanger!!! 😳

As kids, my friend hooked my other friend, right on his eyebrow, nearly missing his eyeball. We walked to the local hardware store, and asked where the cutters were. We pushed the hook through, cut it, and walked out like ...

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

I guess the fact I wear glasses can come in handy at times. So glad you were ok. When I saw that hook on YouTube it
was pretty shocking. Thanks for sharing your videos and I imagine we will see you in sunglasses a few times down the
road. Tight lines always Chris. :-)

Re: Lake Hodges Fishing: Post Spawn Bass? And a big Whoops!

Those carp guys were not breaking any rules / I mean there are no signs that say NO FISHING kayak and float tube launch area only. Heck man that would take some effort / do you think those orange cones are for traffic going up and down the ramp / they are there for the mountain bike races that are ...
