Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Don't think "you should have been here yesterday" applies when it comes to Lake Murray recently.
I go over to the lake often and I have spoken to lots of different anglers. Guys fishing from shore, to float tube to kayak guys and to guys in bass boats and it is just tough fishing there. Now you can ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Only thing I've fished down there has been San Vicente on the 18th. It fished like the last 2 times I've been there in the past month, which means that you had fish on the boat, but zero discernible pattern. 4 wkeks ago, we're catching them in 40 to 50 feet, having to fizz them. 3 weeks ago, they're ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Really slow for me both from tube and shore. Having to grind for a couple of bites. My last couple of Cap trips I covered a ton of water and got nary a bite. It’s January for sure.

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

At least I don't feel so bad now. I think I may hit Miramar in the rain Sunday, just because I can.

Sunday is smart, the rain will help the air quality at least. Tomorrow is my day to get out but I may skip if the air quality isn’t great. I have my gear ready to go and a plan for a little ...

1/24-Wanted One More....

I was going to go to Murray for a few hours this morning to see if I could catch enough dinks to weigh them and see if the total weight could reach at least a pound and a half, but changed my mind. Instead I spent the morning at the SD river. Crank baits, spinnerbaits and under spins gave me some ...

Yeah, a lot better than the dinks I was catching at Murray so far this year. Heck I think my biggest fish there was about only about 1 3/4 lbs. :-)

Well, at least I’m not getting skunked but I’m still looking for my first keeper of 2025. The little ones are always so ambitious

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

You know the day spent at Otay was slow but the company of Chris Pourboy Brandt made the trip memorable and worthwhile. That holds true for all of the forum guys I've had the pleasure to meet in person.

Even though Murray has been slow I've landed a few, and it's always good to see Kirk and Vinny ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Late December through all of January I have had a spectacular fishing year so far........................in my head on my couch with a hot adult beverage watching football. Ahhhhhh the life. See ya in spring until then you can find me in my boat making ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Last year, when I was able to get out twice a week, and with high water the fishing was epic for me at San V. It was awesome to be able to stay with he fish from 40-50' all the way up to the waterfall in Barona a couple of months later. Ill be getting out for my first trip of the year this weekend ...

I am always thankful when I can get a bite or two in the colder water after flippin' all over the place and land a bass.
Luck does play a role also. :-)

Murray
I was expecting to look at the pic and see Vinny behind me.
Funny you saw the fish, it jumped out just as he was taking the picture. I try to remember and close the lid as they jump out all the time.

Re: Haven't done this in a while

It’s funny because as soon as I saw the photo, I knew it was Murray immediately. I just have not been fishing there lately or fishing much at all. I stop by the lake all the time to see how guys are doing and wish I was there to see that fish. That definitely must’ve made your day when you got that ...

Skunked but....Otay 2/2

Fished all morning at Otay but couldn't wash off the skunk stink. Still I had an awesome time... Why?

Spent the morning with @Early release ,@Pourboy , and @CorsoEnthusiast . The great company made the whole trip worthwhile to be sure!

It sure was a great time. It surprised me that none of us got anything. We certainly had the entire water column covered.

Re: Skunked but....Otay 2/2

I got a worm bite about 10:15 in the old parking lot area and I had my drag loosened to pull out some line while I was retying. Swung on em and didn’t get the hookset.. That was enough to make me feel alive and fish another 40 minutes anyway.

Pleasure fishing with you gents! Let’s do it again soon ...

Really enjoyed the pic!
What we have here is basically a Bass All-Star Team photo of some really great bass fishermen!
