Re: Success at Otay!!!

Well no luck on the strolling baits at Murray, but to be fair I didn't give them a great try. I ran into some equipment issues and had to cut my morning really short lol

Hope your equipment issued gets fixed and those baits do look awesome!
And adding my 2 cents regarding Murray... if 10 sticks ...

Re: Success at Otay!!!

In your defense. When the bass at Otay get the threadfin corralled in the back of those arms, the bite can go stupid. Sounds like they are feeding so hard right now that they are not scrutinizing baits and the bite is going wide open at times. I seen this a lot in the past a Otay, but normally ...

Otay 12/22

5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

Murray 12/23

Well I worked the first 3 hours yesterday at Murray and only managed a couple of small 1.5 clone bass. So I pivoted and broke out the BFS gear and rigged it with a tiny chatterbait. I managed 18 of these and even continued picking up the occasional clone bass here and there between .

Happy holidays ...

Christmas at the Canals

As has become a tradition for me the last couple of years, I made a visit to the Imperial Valley on Christmas Day in search of some green and brown bass.

Hit several different spots with no luck, and finally about 1:30PM my brother and I got to the last spot. We started on opposite sides of the ...

Re: Christmas at the Canals

Nice work on the fish. Chris (Pourboy) and I have been heading out east lately also. We fished Mohave a couple weeks back and I lost a good smallie too. Looks like you and I both have a mission for 2025. :) We fished a pond off the Colorado river last Sunday, got a few, it sure was nice to fish ...

Re: Christmas at the Canals

Way to hang in there and glad you guys ran in to some fish. Bummer about that big smallie getting away, but sounds like he still had a pretty fun time with your brother. Thanks for sharing and always love the pics you post. Look forward to more winter stories from the canals.

Amazing Murray Story 12/27

I got on the lake just after the gates opened and had basically circumnavigated it by 10 am. I caught a few of the usual clones and bluegill and decided to head back to the launch ramp to warm up a bit and relieve myself (because I suspect peeing one's waders is ill advised).

As I approached the ...

Good day at Otay 12/29

Had a great time at Otay today. Final count was 11 fish total, all of them were over 3lbs, with a couple just shy of 5. I put in at the ramp and caught a few along the tulies as I headed to Otay arm. I caught the majority of them working among the trees at the tip of the arm. Every fish was on a ...

Re: Miramar ramp

Thanks for the update on lake Miramar I hate making the drive to find out the lake ramp is closed. Snack bar opening means they also have boats to rent I hope.
