Re: Fatties at Otay 10/30

Great job out there by the way. And between you and Early Release working me in that direction I just picked up my first BFS setup. I remember trying yours at Hodges that day for the first time. I did pick up a few micro jigs too. I’m excited to get my first fish on it! I tried this week at Hodges ...

Re: 10/31-PB SD River bass

Decided to skip a trip to Murray and headed out to the SD river. Got there around 7:30 and there was even more surface area covered with a green film than last week. I imagine that with some good winter rains it will be able to flush out a lot of this yucky green water. On the positive side, after ...

Hard work pays off

Well, honestly it is not that hard after all I am talking about walking along the bank of a small lake and casting...but it was hard to me. Been working at the Sulphur Creek Reservoir since my first trip saw a trout slaughtered by a bass. And for a long time I was skunked. Tried lots of different ...

Productive bait Murray 11/1

I found another versatile BFS bait that has been working well for me. Today I Caught several bass and bluegill on a Shimano World Crank 73F. The best bass was just over 4lbs.

It's an interesting bait, sort of a cross between a crank and jerk bait. It suspends so it can be worked like a jerk bait ...

Yeah, it’s hard not to have a big smile when I was lifting that bass up for pics.

3 November at Murray

I was able to get out on the water twice this weekend. Friday and again this morning. I got 5 on Friday and 9 this morning. It feels like I have caught many more. I have been fishing small flukes and a BFS walking bait (thanks for the tip Dannicus) for the most part. While I have been catching fish ...

Re: Lake Hodges Final Report

It was a great time and our conversations were mostly uninterrupted by fish, so that's a positive way of looking at it. :)

Re: Lake Hodges Final Report

I too was at the closing of Hodges for the season. I was throwing plastics and crank baits on the exact same bfs rod the Phenix Classic which i just recieved the day before. I paired it with a new Dark wolf which i really like but it didnt tempt the fish from biting my offerings. I didnt throw any ...

Re: Lake Hodges Final Report

Ahaha, I welcome the instruction. I really need help on jigs. Maybe a little help on plastics too. During the learning portion of both, I may have to drink a little more. :)

Productive day 11/7

Today was a pretty good day at Murray! It was great catching up with VinnyBass ! I caught 8 bass and 5 bluegill on the morning. The bass were all on jigs and Senkos, and the bluegill all on a little 2.5" crankbait. I almost didn't go because of wind warnings but glad 8 decided to... In reality, the ...

Re: Productive day 11/7

Nice job.
Always fun seeing and chatting with you yesterday morning and even go to watch you land a bass right before I launched. Wasn't going fishing, changed my mind and that is why I arrived around 8:45. After many prior trips of catching bass in deep water around shad balls, this time the shad ...

Re: Miramar let me down

Me too!!! I rolled into Miramar on Friday morning to see the water low, knowing that the ramp wouldn't be open. It wasn’t. So me and my buddy went to Murray and I managed 3 small keepers. But I checked the city website page for Miramar. Didn’t even say anything about the ramp being closed! Lame! I ...

Almost mid November…

And thought about that as I was working Topwater halfway through my short session. The report was the bite was terrible, from Lake staff and friends on the water. Decided not to let that bother me too much, and went ahead with the plan to get some Topwater action if I could. Ended up with some nice ...

Re: Miramar let me down

Years ago when I still fished in a club we held a tournament there. Launch was a piece of cake but when we went to pull out the water had fallen so drastically we had to drop the trailer tires off the bottom of the ramp in order to get our boats out! its crazy how fast the water there can fluctuate!
