I fished lake Murray this morning, and the water was so low that it was almost at the end of the boat ramp. On the plus side, I had the place almost all to myself (except for a few shore guys that arrived mid-morning).
There were a lot of bass busting early, but I couldn't get them to take my top ...

I'm Baaaaack! D&K 8/9
After having been under the weather for almost 2 weeks (and still not feeling 100%) I finally got back on the water yesterday for a morning session.
I tried topwater for the first 45 minutes with no joy, then the middle column stuff, but all the biters seemed stuck on the bottom.
I ended the ...

Murray shore fishing
Got up early 5:30 arrived at 6:00 and I walked down to the shore by the submerged fence, I had been eyeing that spot when I’ve gone to check out where I might try I wasn’t sure if it was all that deep but it was a fairly short distance from where I parked.
I fished for 2+1/2 hrs without a bite and ...

Miramar Evening bite
If you can get out there early evening, its well worth the trip. Fish are snappin purdy gud. Breakers and overall a decent reaction bite once you find the fish. Was out there on Monday and it was fun for a 3 hr. after work session.

Re: Miramar Evening bite
That topwater bite is fun. I pre-fished a local SD lake with a buddy of mine on Saturday, and had something happen to us that hasn't happened ever.
We picked up one rod, at 5:30 am, and never put it down. We left the lake at 12 pm and had all the other rods we brought still in their rod socks ...

8/14-Miramar Morning
Decided to head up to Miramar again since the last time I was there July 24. A little foggy in the morning but was able to throw on
some random busters here and there. They seemed to be more focused on the small baitfish they were chasing. It was a little frustrating having a few roll over or ...

The heat and the full moon..
Haven’t been to my “home lake” in awhile cause the evening shore bite has been really slow lately. Decided to venture out Monday since it was the full moon to see if maybe they were chewing.
It was a balmy 99 when I got to the lake at 4pm. Wind helped it a bit but the sun was just brutal.

8/22-Back to Murray for more
I actually did not plan to fish today and got on the water with my kayak close to 7am. Had the pleasure to meet and chat with 1FishDude, who had a very cool pontoon set-up. It was a tough start as I was only able to land 2 bass until around 10.

Murray
Had a ball out at Murray Thursday. Met a great guy and guide in VinnyBass also. Started around 7 am and was surprised to see busters all over the lake. I started with a weighted fluke for no love as I made my way out to the middle of lake where i saw VinnyBass make some hook ups but didnt see him ...

Reality Check - Hodges 8/24
Have had a lot of really good days lately so I suppose it was time for a reality check. Took the drive up to Hodges hoping for some jiggy piggies since that’s my favorite place to drag a jig around.
It was a gorgeous day out. Water temp a balmy 82 and apparently the fish thought the buffet was ...

Re: Reality Check - Hodges 8/24
I was out there on a tube as well from 6:00-9:30 with only three bass for the day. All on a drop shot fluke dragged on the bottom as if fishing the bay for spotties. I launched out of Hernandez and fished that side of the peninsula. Water was chocolate milk and absolutely full of carp on the muddy ...

Re: Reality Check - Hodges 8/24
Better to get skunked throwing cool lures than catch some dragging senkos or some other cheesy rig.
Ive been getting some on old school cranks that ive had forever, so gratifying.
Im always happy working a jig or a spook, anywhere in the world, fresh or salt.

Hodges PB
Hey everyone, not new to the forum but new to posting. I went out to Hodges with the goal of catching a PB. After grinding away for a couple of hours, I met another fisherman who was having some luck with crank baits. I have zero confidence with crank baits but patterns are patterns so I tied on a ...

Hodges 8/25
Tried to get a few hours in the morning before the heat took over. they opened the gate at 6;00 and i set up the pontoon and was on the water headed down the Del Dios arm by 6;30. I was heading to a place i knew that has deep water because from the reports i got on folks throwing the kitchen sink at ...

Re: Hodges 8/25
Talking to a few buddies recently and it seems like Hodges has been really a lot tougher…. so picking up a couple nice bass is always a plus even with a few dinks. Glad to see you avoided the skunk and back on the water with your pontoon. Thanks for sharing and Tight lines always

Hodges 8/28
Was heading over to Barrett but woke up late and since I was already packed up I made the short drive over to Hodges. There was not many people fishing and most probably stayed away due to the tough conditions out there. I made a beeline to the dam and started throwing cranks on my BFS set up. Got a ...
