Hodges report March 9

Hi all,

Hodges was very nice today. Got out in some really cool fog early in the morning and started on my way. Almost instantly I got a sample size bass on a crankbait that was very ambitious for a fish of his size, he wasn't the only sample size fish I got, I had a couple, they don't figure into ...

Re: 3/8 El Cap

Pourboy wrote: Sat Mar 09, 2024 9:41 pm Wish I would have gone there today. I spent 10 hours at Hodges and ended up with only catching one grebe on a crank. Great job!
But did it fight good? The weight?

Re: Hodges report March 9

Hey man, great job out there. I wish I could say that I did better than you, but that would be a straight up lie. It was great sharing the beverage that will make it on a video soon. I can’t make one from the outing I had, as I only had a bird for my catch of the day. Cheers and I’ll see you on ...

Spring fishing at the fave

Been out at my favorite local body of water a lot lately as things have been pretty fun there. 3 trips over the past week and all of them produced fish, mostly of the 2lb+ variety but nothing bigger than 3 and change.

Pattern has been a little different every day. Saturday morning was all power ...

Hodges report March 13

Here's my version of what Hodges was like today.

Got to the ramp there around 0700, which feeeeels late, but really isn't. No wind at all and light cloud cover. Water temp was 61F. It was pretty well attended this morning too, there were a good number of folks for a weekday. Chuck and I headed to ...

Lake Dixon Today

With a little boat surgery, got 2 today.
Missed one pickup.
All on drop-shotted pumpkin Kreatures.
Got a chance to cruise the shoreline for the first time this year.
No well defined beds yet; but some smaller males are hanging around shallow developing beds.
Today's catch was all in about 20' of ...

Lower Colorado River 3/14-3/16 (video)

A little late on the report but still soon enough to be relevant for anyone heading that way in the next week or two. We got out to the Martinez Lake area midday on Thursday and arrived to 20-25mph winds and cool/cloudy conditions. After a week of nice weather prior to this we weren't exactly sure ...

Hodges report March 20

Hi all,

The report is that the lake is closed on the third Wednesday of the month. It's not on the website if you pull the county page, however you can find it by going to one of the other reservoirs and seeing the pdf stating Hodges is closed. Or....you can go there on the third Wednesday of the ...

Murray 3/20

I haven't posted for a while so I thought I'd share a few photos from my trip to Murray today. I ended up with 23 trout and 14 bass over the last 2 days there. All fish were caught on small jigs with my BFS gear. They just stocked trout again, and I spotted some bass on beds.

Fun times!

Otay 3/20 - First time back in a couple years

My first trip back to one of my favorite lakes in almost 2 years due back surgery. And, it was a good one.
The lake was completely different than I remembered. The areas I used to fish were now 5-8 ft deeper. A lot of the vegetation was totally different. Access to areas long overgrown were open ...

3/21-Lake Poway Exploratory trip

Took off to Lake Poway mostly on an exploratory mission and to get a few hours of fishing in from shore. I had not been up to Lake
Poway for a very long time and figured I would go take a look. I did expect a few trout fishermen but never expected so many of
them on a Thursday morning. It was ...

Re: 3/21-Lake Poway Exploratory trip

Yeah, I heard about that 14 pounder and with all those trout being stocked I imagine there’s a lot of big bass in there. That water is pretty darn clear so I bet many of those bass are pretty smart.

Re: Lake Hodges: Storm Fishing Plus An Interesting Story

Nice video Chris. I have been thinking to head to the narrows for the reasons you outlined, it's good to see that it worked well for you. Really liked the story about your big fish and of course that drink on the water was great. See you on the water.

Re: Lake Hodges: Storm Fishing Plus An Interesting Story

Another great video and I knew your tube setup does everything, it’s even a floating wet bar!! Love the big catch story and how nice getting to relive that day again! So Hodges back in the day was maybe a red lake like Cap is a green lake etc. Like your jig with a hint of red with the pumpkin, I ...

Re: Lake Hodges: Storm Fishing Plus An Interesting Story

Really enjoyed your post and especially your video and hearing your story of the monster bass you caught at Miramar years ago. I could just visualize how exciting that must’ve been. That must’ve been absolutely crazy when you landed it. Look forward to many many more of your posts and videos.

Hodges report March 27

Hello all,

We got out on the water at 0645. The usual Hodges fog was present and water temp was around 61-62 F. I started along the shoreline and picked up a couple sample size bass ( around a pound or so ). Picked around with the popper and got a couple swirls but again no takers. I had a bait I ...

Re: Lake Hodges: Storm Fishing Plus An Interesting Story

I have known for some time that you were still on the Top 25 List, but hearing the story was awesome!
Nice 6.1 Pounder too=)
