I know it's definitely known as a murky water color. Seems to be a go-to in Florida. I had some success with it when I used to fish the Delta years ago, but it seemed like when I moved back to SD it didn't work as well for me.

Top fish is a salema.

Could also be YFC. They're definitely in there.

I saw you out there at Otay this morning. I was on shore throwing flies for a bit before work.

Not too good. I had some small bass and bluegill go for my fly, but nothing stuck. I only had an hour to work with and it was my first time fly fishing freshwater locally in a LONG time.

Thanks for the ramp update. Murray is my second home lake (after Otay) and I've been missing it as a Friday option, although that has got me out to a couple of other lakes this summer.

There are definitely good ones in the river. And you're right, even the 1-2 pounders fight extra hard there.

It wasn't until I started fishing lakes that were not as pressured that I started using 8, 10, 12 pound test, and got into 'power' fishing.


People in other parts of the country call 12# line "light" or "finesse" for bass fishing. Crazy, I have caught tons of bass flippin' tules with 12 ...

Thanks for the info on the City Hall spot. I usually use the one on the other side of the ramp, which isn't bad by public restroom/park/beach standards, but this one sounds even better.
