Well, good news and bad news this morning.

Good news: lots of sand crab beds and clean water! All of the crabs with roe are really big but I hooked one up anyway. Caught first sand crab fish of the year, the SNGF pictured below.

Yeah, threading on the hook is not as much of a problem, although a bit tough with dry ones, it's just keeping them on the hook once they turn into goo after hitting water is the issue as even little nibble can pull them off completely, even with Owner Baitholder hooks.

Yep, those are the ones.

If I don’t get a nibble, it just looks like a wet worm when I pull it in. And sure, I suppose they degrade with extended time in the water, but nothing that ever struck me as a problem.

I bet using it in conjunction would sand crabs would be killer. Ben at AmericanSeaFishing fishes them this way (crab + fishbite). He fishes it on a high low rig but it should work just as well on a Carolina

Nah, I used to harvest a few corbina or croaker each year for the dinner table but not anymore, unless a keeper halibut. There's a story behind it but won't get into that. Now, its CP&R unless I know the fish isn't going to make it, bleeding out, etc.
