Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?

Greetings all,

It's been a few months since I last posted. Kentucky country life is outstanding. It's nice you're able to fish and shoot on your property (the ranch) with zero repercussions (except scaring off a couple of the neighbor's cows).

I've stocked over 15 lbs of fathead minnows and 100 ...

Another Personal Best 04/03/24

Welp. the weather finally stared to get warm up here in Wyoming. A lot of the ice has begun to melt on the Flaming Gorge, and all the ice is gone in the lower half of the reservoir. The last couple of months has been pretty slow, and I have been skunked throughout most of February and March. So when ...

Re: The City of San Diego is at it again!

It’s all those sexy street repairs that the city is so diligently working on. Gotta grease the hinges on all those gates at the border too.
Jump the border and you’re handed a silver platter of benefits at our expense…sneak into a lake at night, catch and release, leave no trace and you get the ...

Re: Keep our Lakes Open

Yes I applaud Supervisor Anderson and all the fisherman who took the time to sign the petition. Maybe.......just maybe he might consider chiming in on the one day a month lake closure issue? That was just such a stupid decision the City made that caught us all by surprise. Any ideas how we can start ...

Re: California Boater Card

Take the course , Boat US , pay the 10 bucks . There are some exemptions that seem silly as rental equipment doesn't require a cert . Fine schedule if they enforce , $100 first offense $250 2nd , $500 for the third . Rules say to have card in your possession when operating . I have yet to be asked ...

Re: Wake up people! Your voting has consequences !

Some of the problem lies here, county residents can not vote in city elections.
Tho the lakes are in the county , sounds like the fox is in charge of the hen house to me.
Too many deals brokered at midnight.

I agree with that one! As a non-city resident it is frustrating at best. Thanks for the ...

Re: Wake up people! Your voting has consequences !

That’s an entirely different rabbit hole! I have to pay an astronomical rate to play Torrey Pines because I’m county, but the guy renting a tiny apartmebt that lives the downtown lifestyle can get a nice city card discount when he doesn’t even play golf. I mean, of course city folk love golf more ...

Re: San Diego mayor proposes cuts to lake access in budget plan

A lot of the lakes already have iron rangers or automated kiosks. Only the city would argue they save money by not collecting money.

Is there any sort of detailed accounting report for the lakes?

Re: El Cap about to be unlaunchable

The city has this site where you can check water levels thru automated sensors they have in place for Miramar, El Cap, Hodges and San V. This is pretty neat.

Re: The Mayor just vetoed the Council on the lakes

He obviously only cares about the walkers and joggers....he's basically saying " Screw the Fisherman"..! He knows most of us are not in the City and don't vote for the Clown!

Lake Murray April 5, 2023

Murray bass .jpg The cold weather and water level fluctuating up and down has not helped the bass fishing at Lake Murray. It has been a tough bite with smaller fish as a reward after a lot of hard work recently. Good news as the action should be picking up now that we may be in for some warmer ...

Just a few from Santee while the site was down.

All caught on ikas, flukes, or senkos. The weather this winter has made the spring bite funky. Not getting as many bites as I usually get on reaction baits this time of year.

Re: Just a few from Santee while the site was down.

Two thumbs up bud!

Yeah, reaction was nil for me Jan. and Feb. Four trips out w/ stripes every time, even went d/s at Cap the last time, backseater and I still got the stripe in 5 hours of trying. Haven''t fished since. That, plus knee went out from kneeling on he ground to paint a painting for 4 ...

Three little bass

First of all, thanks to whomever saw the need to start this new site! It is very much appreciated!

As many of you know I frequent Sutherland on most Fridays. This year I am attempting to fish an entirely differently lake. It is 40 feet deeper that the lake I fished in the fall! On the opener the ...

Re: Three little bass

If I did not know you better, I would think you caught three bass between 3 to 5 pounds and keeping it low-key…. but since you’re such an honest guy, I have to believe that you got three small bass. Getting on the water is always better then not getting on the water and catching bass no matter what ...
