Mission bay 8/3
Haven't posted on here in a long time. Finally, I have the chance to start fishing again more than a few times a year. Was out on Mission Bay from 6am to about noon. Bite died at about 10am. Got a total of 28 unless you count the 9 lizardfish. A mixed bag 2 yellowfin croaker, 1 sculpin, 15 (2 legal ...

Re: Mission bay 8/3
Yeah, I fish heavier when I'm fishing around hard structure. But if I'm fishing grass, I have a lot more fun with the lighter setup.

Mission bay 8/10
This Sunday was rougher than the last. Spent a good bit of time working some new baits with little to no luck. 20 fish total a mixed bag of spotties and calicos. Few of the spotties being legal or just shy of it. Most were caught on the incoming tide in the morning. Bite shut down for me around 9 ...

New to the surf, Torrey Pines 8/17
New to surf fishing. I've been out a few times now and have managed to avoid the skunk. Went out to Torrey Pines for the first time this morning targeting corbina and spotfin. Fished from 5:30-9:30 and managed two. My first ever corbina and a new pb halibut. Still hunting for that legal. Both we ...

Carlsbad 8/28
After work session from 4pm-7pm.The little bit of rain just before helped clear the beach of people quite nicely. Caught 5 yellowfin croaker and 2 surf perch. Almost all my bites were past the breakers barely anything in close. Tried for halibut on a double dropshot with no luck but doubled up on ...

Re: Carlsbad 8/28
Are you launching from the jetty to get past the break ? Only way from the sand is to be near waist/chest high out in the surf to toss a 3-4 oz setup out there & hope it holds. Dangerous IMO. Just wondering, have seen guys with the really long rods & heavy setups throw it along way but few get ...

Shark/Ray fishing De Anza
I went out last night to try for sharks and rays for the first time. Decided to try de anza cove thanks to dj thrillz post for mission bay. While I didn't get skunked, I definitely could have done things better. Ended up with a little smooth hound and a couple of small rays. The larger setups ...

Re: Hello and a Request for Halibut Advice
I am by no means an expert. I personally have yet to catch myself a legal hali, but so far this year ive managed at least 1 for about 75% of my trips. I fish mostly mission bay but have managed 2 from the surf. In the bays my luck has been on the on the luckycraft and a 2.8in kietech 3/16 jighead in ...
