Re: Barrett water level

Fish are going to be spread out all over the place. Next year should be fantastic though as the fish population catches up with the expanded area. Still looking forward to fishing it, even if it means working harder than usual.

They are faster than you think. Remember Hodges had level by the ...

5/7

I promised I'd post more on here when it got brought back so here's the scoop from Sunday! Got a late start on the water around 2. Started out trying some new tactics with squarebills around pigs for no love. Tried the ned for a bit with a few short bites. Switched to the fly rod and headed up the ...

5/10 Barrett report

Great to be back at the Big B in 2023. Good thing we had our rain gear on as it came down loading the boat and the ride down Hauser. Between it being dark, raining and the super full lake we couldn’t find our old spots. When it got light I started with the spinner bait for nada. Switched to the ...

Re: Barrett report May 7th

Thx Seaway- just read your post from May 7th
and wanted to tag onto your Pinecreek/arm experience
for Wednesday May 10th!
Good work with the spinners because I couldn’t attract anything!
Overcast and cold throughout the day, making the water temperature seem warmer than your report 🧐
The lake is ...

barrett may 10th

My friend and I took our kayaks to barrett on may 10th. Got there a little after 5 and parked at pigs with no problem. The weather was wet and cold and we stopped fishing at 1:30 before the wind got to bad. We went down hauser arm stopping at different spots fishing shallow areas. W used swimbaits ...

Barrett report 5/13

Got skunked at Barrett… just kidding haha. I ended up with 8 in the boat. Lost a bunch close to the boat. Between me and 2 buddies that went, we ended up with 35. One buddy caught 7 slabs of crappies on a fly setup with dragon flies. In the morning, the jerk bait bite was good. I caught a few on a ...

Barrett report May 17th

Hi all. Barrett is in full swing. I had good success in Hauser and pedaled my kayak pretty far back. There's a whole new world back there. I find it funny to cast into water and get foxtails on my lure, normally that's something that happens when I overshoot the shoreline. The water is between 70 ...

Re: Barrett report May 17th

Nice car and a half width, smooth clean “ramp” into the water. Water is above where the road used to take a hard left into the cove. All the parking is perpendicular to the cove, leaving pigs main road into the water open. People were mostly wheeling kayaks to the ramp. Some guys backed up at the ...

Re: Barrett report May 17th

It was nice meeting you ER, I’m sure those guys were happy we found their rods.
Top water was good early for me, got 15-20 on popper. Flukes, senko and jerk bait round out the day. Biggest was 3.5.
That wind really picked up after 11!
Back again next week.

Barrett Report - May 21st 🔥

Arrived at 4am with RickM and we were super excited to experience the "new" lake, and indeed it definitely feels different with the water levels so high. Parking was great and the haul down with a battery and trolling motor was much easier since the dock was so close.

The boat ride to Hauser was ...

The Magic Waterfall 5/6 and 5/7

Late report but I went out to the B on 5/6 in my kayak and found a good topwater bite before the sound came up throwing a popper. After that I struggled for a bit. Threw the chatter, blade and jig for a few fish and finally just started doing a lot of exploring. Lake was full of life and is so much ...

Re: Barrett Report - May 21st 🔥

Nice! I think sometimes people get hung up on covering water there. I’ve had days where making the same cast over and over produced 30-40 fish off one “spot”

So true, I remember one year, the bushes at the turn of pigs point dirt ramp were so loaded with fish, we’d kick in to leave and pick up ...

Re: Barrett Report - May 21st 🔥

Great to see the good success. Hauser sure is fun with all the new trees in the water. I like the little "private fishing rooms" that the trees have created. I really should head down to Pine, but it's so hard to leave fish to find fish. Especially with how brutal the afternoon wind is.

5/27 report

Got to the gate around 4. Gate was just opened and we were about 8th to drive in it seemed like. Had a boat which was nice. Parking up by the bathroom because dock is so high. Motored to Hauser and stopped at a pinned location but it was totally different than years past. Threw all types of topwater ...

Barrett report June 11

Cloudy, grey day at Barrett today, although thinking about it, most of them have been this year. This one had intermittent wetting, not drizzle, but maybe rain-light. thumbnail_IMG_9524.jpg

Got to try out my very classy human baggie rainsuit. If you are ever cold, put one of those on. You will be ...

7/8 Mucho Viento

Headed out to Hauser first light and found them biting flukes good. First cast magic with a surface explosion and all. The girl got 4 pretty quick and I eventually caught up. Anywhere from the shore out to 8-10ft and around submerged trees. Things slowed a bit when the sun came out and I decided to ...

Barrett report July 8

Hi all,

Got on the water at 0420 today. Slight wind making a small chop on the water then. Pedaled over to Hauser and Becky's cove for the first light, which took a while. Whole lot of nothing. Zip. Nada. Of course on my first cast I had a boil that almost pulled my kayak in, so then I was ...

Re: Barrett report July 8

Nice one! We may have fished near you in Hauser. Saw deer too. Always cool. On your crawler, many years ago I found a jitterbug that gurgles and wobbles good and I thought it would get them to go for sure. No luck after 10 minutes today so I went back to flukes. Will have to dedicate some time to my ...
