Flipping a Flooded Forrest for GIANT Bass (video)
Went back to the well at my current favorite lake in San Diego County looking to take advantage of the hot springtime bite that has been going on. The video is compilation of my last 2 trips out there, one in the boat and one walking and wading. Had 7-8 fish per trip with plenty of 2-4lb footballs ...

Ok now that the 2024 Barrett Lake fishing season is officially over and in the books, what was your best SECRET lure or bait used?
As many of the veteran fisherperson recall a few years ago, the Yamamoto Senko worm was the hottest ticket to get your 30-40-50-80 plus single per person fish count ...

Re: July Tickets
Could you imagine having a resource like Barrett and not be able to make any money off of it? Only the government could pull that off. It should be an asset, not a liability. What could the overhead be for a Wednesday out there? I can’t imagine they’re losing money every day that it’s accessible. It ...

Fish report May 5, 2025
Our Foundation, San Diego Anglers Foundation, brought Wounded Warriors to Barrett today and it was wide open. We fished from 7 am to 2:30. Every boat caught between 75 to 144 fish. Lots of these guys had never caught a bass before and they left the lake feeling like experts. It was a heavy overcast ...

Barrett Lake May 7th report
Hi all,
Barrett is open for 2025 and it looks to be a promising season. Got on the water around 0500 and pedaled across the lake. Air temp was a chilly 50F, but the water was 62.5 F. First fish for me came 0517, Chuck had already gotten several by then on a jig. I was using a texas rig lizard and ...

Top water Opener
Jose let us in @4:30, line went all the way to the road outside. Mad rush to the water but everyone was friendly. Started with a couple on jig and swim bait, then it was top water ALL day. The popper when it was nice and calm, buzz bait through the grass area, crawler and frog got them too. No ...

Father’s Day 2025 and the Bass Were Gifting!
Got on the water at 4:45 and headed out on an absolutely perfect temp morning and lake surface. The bass were taking care of us fathers with a healthy bite until we left. Our usual rocky spots in Hauser were biting the pumpkin/pumpkin jigs hard, with us lipping 50 healthy models by 8am. Things ...

Barrett Bonanza June 21 Report
Max and I teamed up yesterday for another fun day at the Big B. After about ten hours of fishing we hit our goal of 80 fish not including about fifteen dinks. I did most of my damage on the brush hog while the versatile Max got them on a variety of baits. He also introduced me to the neko rig that ...

8/16 REPORT
My son Cayden and I were at the gate at 3:45AM. The gate was not opened so we got in line along the road. Made sure to have the hazards lights on just in case someone came around the corner a bit too fast. Quick check-in and made our way to the dock. We got to our first spot in the dark and started ...
