Re: New Loveland Updates

The buckets of smaller fish that have been put into Loveland will spawn next year (if they aren't already getting busy). Their success depends on whether the water district screws around with the water level next spring and summer. "Genetics" aren't needed; with warm water, consistent water levels ...

Re: The City of San Diego is at it again!

It’s all those sexy street repairs that the city is so diligently working on. Gotta grease the hinges on all those gates at the border too.
Jump the border and you’re handed a silver platter of benefits at our expense…sneak into a lake at night, catch and release, leave no trace and you get the ...

Please email the Sweetwater General Manager today or tomorrow or at least by Wednesday at noon and ask him to encourage the board of Directors to vote to put the full fishing float back at the lake. The meeting is on Wednesday at 5:00 PM at Sweetwater HQ in Chula Vista. Also please remind him that ...

Catching up

Been a minute since I posted! Band stuff has kept me busy lately but I have still been out fishing my normal places - Cap and Otay are where I’ve spent the most time but also got a Hodges trip in.

Otay has been business as usual for my brother and I. Flyline plastics along the tile line and for me ...

Re: Learning to fresh water fish for my grandson

What a wonderful read. IMO, the basics of freshwater fishing is the same as saltwater: find the structure, match the hatch. Freshwater seems to be more determined by the time of the day due to insect hatches and plankton blooms dictated by the sun, hence sunrise and sunset are typically the best ...

Re: Show us your goldfish!

I was fishing for bass and working a senko with 8lb test and I caught this 25lb carp at Lake Poway years ago.
It was a heck of a fight.

Re: South Bay 11/13

Nice job! I usually do good on the round jig heads and wham style jigs. If you want to catch a bunch of big bones like that go paddle around the Quivira basin in Mission Bay close to shore near all the boat slips. Have caught 5-9lb bonito there like it was a wide open tuna bite

I was out there the ...

Under the Bridge 6/10

Usually have 50+ days on the bay a year but today was only my second time out in 2024. Had a friend in town who's a beginner and always wants to get on the water when he's around, especially since I started taking him to the bay instead of lakes.

Rented a boat at Seaforth in Coronado and headed ...

Re: San Diego Bay Fishing Dialed In! With A Bonefish Bonus!

Curious what time and if there was a tide in or out when you were catching everything by the strand near the end. I want to hit the bay on a week day and need to try and time the drive either before or after rush hour. I’m from Alpine and rush hour ads about an hour to the commute.

I usually ...

Re: SD Bay 6/21 Epic

I was out at Zuniga that day and there was an absolute zero bass bite there which was strange, especially with 4-6" anchovy in the bait tank. Looks like they moved further into the bay or more than likely your mom keeping you happy
