The report is rising water Big time.
The old places are no more , I wish I had pictures , it was a very tough day .
I had to leave at 10:30 was hot.
I caught one nice bluegill , let it go. To hot to clean fish.

Water level is still low and made launching a little tough. Fishing was tougher. Fished a lot of different depths and flies to catch 2 blue gill. Probable 2 weeks away from being able to use launch ramp.

Went ultralight fishing again at Otay. Caught a dozen or so small bass, but the highlight was seven large bluegill, all in the 2 to 2.5 pound range. Fish tacos here I come.

I found schools of gills from my kayak in 20' off the main lake flats at El Cap on Saturday. Not big ones but fun size on light gear ...

I fished Murray yesterday for Bass and it was a slog. Five hours to drum up a few dinks. I had so much fun at Otay last weekend I decided to go back to Murray today with ultralight gear and hooked up with a mess of really nice fat Bluegills.

Had an awesome morning ultralight fishing this morning at Otay. Caught over 30 chunky bluegills. I was jigging 3 inch Yamamoto shad shaped worms and a small 2 inch sinking jerkbait. What a great time!

Looks like there may be more rental boats buzzing around this year, it was so great with only like two on the lake last year

Just talked to my friend she runs the concessions at Hodges. Below I have listed rental boat fleet as of today.

Motor Boats = 13
Row Boats = 2
Pontoon Boats =2

Hopefully some one can provide some intel regarding today's crappie bite. Thinking about going this Saturday.

I have not posted much but have been kayak fishing crappie between shore bay halibut trips and pond bass on weather days.

Lake Hodges 2/16 and 2/22. A few crappie and a couple nice bass both trips, some crappie released. Using various crappie jigs "out in the middle". Water temp 58 early and 62 ...

May ... hammering the panfish as usual. Monthly best went 2.28 lb. from San Vicente on a nightcrawler. Also that day, caught lots of bass up to 3 lb and a dozen other nice bluegill fishing live bait in a cove area near brush. I often find the bite picks up late in the day.
