Murray 'Gills
Fishing for bigger bluegills has been decent at Murray lately. A few on topwater but mostly on weighted flies, generally cast into deeper water. For reference, distance between end cap on butt end of reel seat and the front edge of the grip is 11". Rod is a 3wt 7 footer fiberglass custom built for ...

Re: Murray 'Gills
I love my 3 Wt. Makes small fish big and big fish huge! I landed an 8 pound Brook Trout on it at Irvine Lake on a Black Woolley Bugger.. That particular Stock also contained Brown Trout to 10 pounds. It took all I had to get that bushy fly out there with that little 7 foot rod. I couldn’t land the ...

First Bean(?)
SD Bay was good Sunday (7/16) morning. Caught (what I think) was my first bean on the fly rod (yes, it's small). I thought corvina's mouths were more bottom oriented, but made this one's a juvenile? It had little barbels on its chin like a catfish. Can anyone confirm?

Re: Favorite fish finder and size on kayak
I like the shuttle idea also. I was thinking to mount the Livescope unit behind my seat with the battery, but maybe with the shuttle I can put in the forward hatch, like you are doing. I have a Dakota lithium phosphate 10AH battery already so I'd parallel another one. I think this is a great setup ...

Re: Skinny bass
Pull the current C&R only. no live bait regulations. Period.
Install the Statewide 12 inch/5 fish bag limit so anglers can help manage the fishery properly through harvest. Less starving fish that eat discarded plastics because it's an easier "meal". The lake is only open 3 days a week 5 months ...

The Magic Waterfall 5/6 and 5/7
Late report but I went out to the B on 5/6 in my kayak and found a good topwater bite before the sound came up throwing a popper. After that I struggled for a bit. Threw the chatter, blade and jig for a few fish and finally just started doing a lot of exploring. Lake was full of life and is so much ...
