Re: 2025 Barrett Preview! You Won't Believe This Day

Wasn’t the entry fee or cost to attend (fish) was about $300-$400 and was that per person or per boat?

There are a number of private fundraiser events scheduled before the opener. They went from $250 per person up to $3000 for a package. That was not what I wanted to do. I wanted to raise money ...

Father’s Day 2025 and the Bass Were Gifting!

Got on the water at 4:45 and headed out on an absolutely perfect temp morning and lake surface. The bass were taking care of us fathers with a healthy bite until we left. Our usual rocky spots in Hauser were biting the pumpkin/pumpkin jigs hard, with us lipping 50 healthy models by 8am. Things ...

Barrett Lake June 15th report

Got out at 0430 to a pleasant warm morning, with already a hint of daylight coming. Water was already 73F at the surface and wind was light and variable. Decided to go long and get to Hauser right away. Also decided to focus on topwater, because, well, topwater. Bite was intermittent and a lot of ...

JUNE 14TH REPORT

I have not fished Barrett in 10 years and my son Cayden and I were very excited to get back on the water after such a long absence. It was a tough night of sleep after preparing all of our rods/reels and tackle for our trip. We have a tackle box dedicated to Barrett where we grind down all the hooks ...

Barrett Bonanza June 21 Report

Max and I teamed up yesterday for another fun day at the Big B. After about ten hours of fishing we hit our goal of 80 fish not including about fifteen dinks. I did most of my damage on the brush hog while the versatile Max got them on a variety of baits. He also introduced me to the neko rig that ...

Barrett Lake June 25th report

Got out in the dark with Chuck and Steve around 0430. Air was chilly at 55F, but water had cooled a bit to 71F. Chuck went along our usual path and did quite well, I'll leave those details to him. I went to Wilson's creek and along that shoreline, throwing the rat in hopes of a nice large surprise ...

Sunday 8/10

My 3rd ever trip to Barrett courtesy of Dfishin who sold me his ticket. Headed out before dawn with Pourboy , Early release , and CorsoEnthusiast . Always good to see those guys. I had planned on staying with Chris and Dave but after landing a couple of early fish in the dark, I lost them pretty ...

New Barrett PB 8-10

Just wanted to share a pic of a Barrett beauty caught today and PB by the way. Started at 4:40am fishing with my nephew. Ended the day with well over 50 between both of us. All clones 2-3 lb range and many dinks. All on DS, nedrig, small swim baits and occasional senko.

Re: Sunday 8/10

Great to see you guys out there. It sure made the morning go by quick telling our stories. :) Next time we need to bring breakfast.

I tried to force topwater and didn't get a lot of fish on it, I think plastics and jigs was the thing to use yesterday. They seem to be hovering a bit offshore in 15 ...

Re: Sunday 8/10

You know, it's like Pourboy said yesterday when we were leaving; people sometimes hear the stories about Barrett, and think you just have to throw in a line, and you'll catch a bunch of fish, but that's not necessarily true. You still have to know how to locate fish and apply good techniques to get ...

Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Felt our way out to mid-Hauser in the dark today. Started getting bites on the green pumpkin jig n craws and stayed mostly on that til wrapping it up at 10:30 with 31 for me and a best of 3.2lbs. Didn’t see any busters and tried to stay between 10-20ft deep. The minnow and reapers added a few more ...

Re: Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Was there fishing closer to the front of the lake on Saturday. All jig & worm action for me with the biggest being just over 4.5 on a trick worm. Finished the day with 37 fish. Both of my thumbs are still sore two days later. Always the sign of a great morning!

I was just looking at my ...

Re: Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Crazy how that green pumpkin still does the trick. Always funny how one guy just keeps pulling them in while the rest of us are busy talking instead of fishing

Bass Camp Open for Business 8-30

Barrett is such a great fishery that its ideal for learning new or polishing up unused presentations. That’s certainly been the case for our boat in 2025 with jig n craws so we decided after watching young legend Theo drop shotting with success and DFishin also amassing numbers doing similar, to ...

Personal best (Sunday 8/31)

On the water with my two boys and a boat ticket just before 7am. Our confidence spots were not hitting as hard as they have been over the past few weeks. Stayed in the main lake until we picked up a buddy at 9am. I focused on various top water approaches — flukes and small poppers produced the best ...

Early Barrett Report 2026

It’s charity season at the Big B and was fortunate to get on the water yesterday. Some things never change and the bite was classic Barrett. We were mostly fishing worms and jigs on the bottom and it was very steady until we pulled the lines out at noon, getting 78 between us. We got a few on ...

Re: Early Barrett Report 2026

Just joined SDfish

I was out there on Sunday in my kayak. I hadn't fished Barrett in about ~10yrs. I caught plenty of fish and my biggest was 3.1. So grateful to be able to get the invite and I'll be trying to get back out there some more when it opens to the general public.
