The one that got away 1/9

Those who know me are probably aware that I have never caught a double digit bass. Oh I've flirted with it, with my PB being a 9.8, but nope, after 41 years of SCAL bass fishing, I've never managed to pull that one off. In 2024 my best was an 8 pounder at Hodges. I caught a bunch over five with a ...

Re: The one that got away 1/9

On another note, I've already ordered my replacement BFS rod. It's a Cashion Icon series purchased directly from the manufacturer. I can't wait to try it out. Now I have my eye on that new Bates Hundo BFS reel....looks sweet!

Otay 1/12

5 clones around 1.5 pounds each. One decent bass (pictured). All the little ones came courtesy of a 2" bluegill colored crankbait. The larger one hit a white and pearl chatterbait.

Pretty slow day but still fun.

San Vee - Happy New Year

The monotony of Monday morning was broken when the phone started buzzing, as my tourney partner made his usual call.

"Hey, I can't fish on Saturday. Can you fish on Friday instead?"

"Look who you're asking here," I responded.

"Don't you ever work? Don't you have a job?"

"Yeah, sure. Where ...

First of the year...

Well...I am still at it, although not as often. If memory serves me correctly, this is the first bass of the year for me. That I got to shore anyway after having my line snapped (methinks I was a bit too excited) on what should have been the first about a week ago. Oh well this little one actually ...

Ah, Probation Pond. A hard core angler’s humble yet all-inclusive abode, complete with blue tinted water, towering palm trees, and shopping cart reefs. Hungry? The catering is provided by the taco stand, and dessert is on wheels as the elote ...

The Captain 1/14

I woke to a text yesterday from VinnyBass reminding me that it was the second Tuesday of the month and Murray was closed. Lucky thing too or that's inevitably where I would have headed. I pivoted and decided to head to El Capitan instead.

I dropped the boys off at school in La Mesa and headed for ...

Happy belated New years

Just checking in once again.... I have been going down the big swimbait rabbit hole as of recently..... alot more boring nothing happens kind of days. However, with dedication and the willingness to learn. I found some success, some 5lbers, a 7lber, and a New Years Day 13lber. She was weighed on the ...

Murray: Has not been exciting

Well, I have not posted for a while and saved you guys from reading long drawn out(blah, blah, blah)posts from recent trips
to Lake Murray. Heck, some of you probably enjoyed not seeing my mug, and have to admit if I was not me, I would be saying...oh,
here we go again with another long Vinny post ...

Hood (Baby) Hawgs

The clock hadn't hit 11 am and Edna from Accounts Receivable had gotten on my last nerve. Usually this happens around 3 pm, but this was a new record for her. All morning, she had been asking ME , the Sr Project Manager, when we started billing a new client of ours, when SHE , the head of Accounts ...

At least I don't feel so bad now. I think I may hit Miramar in the rain Sunday, just because I can.

1/24-Wanted One More....

I was going to go to Murray for a few hours this morning to see if I could catch enough dinks to weigh them and see if the total weight could reach at least a pound and a half, but changed my mind. Instead I spent the morning at the SD river. Crank baits, spinnerbaits and under spins gave me some ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

You know the day spent at Otay was slow but the company of Chris Pourboy Brandt made the trip memorable and worthwhile. That holds true for all of the forum guys I've had the pleasure to meet in person.

Even though Murray has been slow I've landed a few, and it's always good to see Kirk and Vinny ...

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Last year, when I was able to get out twice a week, and with high water the fishing was epic for me at San V. It was awesome to be able to stay with he fish from 40-50' all the way up to the waterfall in Barona a couple of months later. Ill be getting out for my first trip of the year this weekend ...

Skunked but....Otay 2/2

Fished all morning at Otay but couldn't wash off the skunk stink. Still I had an awesome time... Why?

Spent the morning with @Early release ,@Pourboy , and @CorsoEnthusiast . The great company made the whole trip worthwhile to be sure!

Murray

Fishing is still somewhat tough at Murray but it seems to be changing for the better.

Set out this afternoon to get some practice in with the cheater box and found some scattered schools at 30-40 feet.

Still getting the hang of the livescope but its already proved its value in the few trips I've ...

Re: Skunked but....Otay 2/2

It sure was a great time. It surprised me that none of us got anything. We certainly had the entire water column covered.
