Re: Catching up

Wow...hitting all the lakes and pulling in bass. Very nice!
My Googan Kracken' craws and Strike King Rage craws look like little wimps compared to that husky craw bait you are throwing.
Looks like it gets lots of action and you always find some new cool baits that the bass like to gobble up. Thanks ...

poppers and crankbaits and jigs oh my! 6/25

I fished lake Murray this morning, and the water was so low that it was almost at the end of the boat ramp. On the plus side, I had the place almost all to myself (except for a few shore guys that arrived mid-morning).

There were a lot of bass busting early, but I couldn't get them to take my top ...

6/28-SD River

Yesterday, I loaded my smaller kayak and headed over to Lake Murray in hopes of fishing only a few hours before the heat arrives. Aware that they were lowering the water level like they do every year for the 4th of July Fireworks show, I just assumed the ramp would still have a little water on it. I ...

Big Rig Bass Fishing Part 2( video)

What's up guys. The 2nd edition of my trucking and fishing video's. On this one I had a lot more planned but time constraints didn't work out. But I did manage to have time for some fishing under the I-10 bridge over the Colorado River( Az side). I didn't expect much but was happy to catch some ...

Throwing worms at The Captains Footballs 6/30

After an abysmal Saturday at Sutherland yesterday (a handful of dinks) I thought to redeem myself at El Capitan today. The topwater bite really never got going at either lake this weekend, at least where I was fishing.

It had been a minute since I'd worm fished, so I T-rigged a 7 inch fat Roboworm ...

Hodges 6/3oWas outW

Was out at Hodges early Sunday morning to test out my newly refurbished Pontoon and to see what I could catch. I had a stellar day catching over a dozen bass. I wanted to see if my battery would hold up all the way to the dam and lucky for me it did because I was throwing an Evergreen Pc5 and most ...

From rock bottom to the top

El Capitan 7/2
I threw every topwater and mid-column lure I own and got nary a nibble....zip...nada....nuttin. I switched to the bottom and zing bada bing! Senkos, jigs, Roboworms, if I had it, I threw it and they ate it! And they didn't give a rat's bass about color either, it all worked. I ended ...

Re: Fishing on the 4th

Anyone know if the schedule for our lakes is just the usual this week? Only San V and Murray open Thursday like normal or are there additional lakes open/closed on account of the holiday?

Looking to get out for a few hours in the morning.

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to see where you ...

Pigs at El Capitan 7/8

Got on the water at 5:15 and picked up these two porky beauties in the first 30 minutes. I actually lightened the first picture. I took it in much lower light than it appears. After the second photo conditions became clear and bright and the topwater bite was kaput.

I picked up a handful of 1-2 ...

7/8- Miramar fun and done!

Loaded my kayak up and hit Lake Miramar on Monday. It was overcast, the water was high and caught my first bass on top
which was a nice start. I started to catch bass on a topwater bait and in between a few bass that could not find my treble hooks.
Anyway everything was going well as I began to ...

Re: Best way to catch bass

There is no *best way* brother, but being a beginner you should think about looking up Dropshot on YouTube. A dropshot rig with a 4 inch plastic worm is pretty reliable and forgiving. It's how I started my kids, and still use it myself on occasion when nothing else works. Just my .02.

Hodges 7/10

I got to the lake early and it looked perfect for top water. Nice and overcast. By the time i set up my pontoon and launched the overcast had burned off so i started hitting the shore with an assortment of smaller cranks. I picked up some small dinks close to the shore on shad raps so i made a ...

Frogs and fighter jets 7/11

I went to Miramar for the first time in years this morning. I threw cranks, swimmers, Senkos, jerks, t-rigs, jigs and even a dropshot for a brief spell. The only bites I could get were popping a frog at the edge of the tulles.

Not that I am complaining! I love me some frog fishing, but I wish they ...
