Lake Dixon Today

With a little boat surgery, got 2 today.
Missed one pickup.
All on drop-shotted pumpkin Kreatures.
Got a chance to cruise the shoreline for the first time this year.
No well defined beds yet; but some smaller males are hanging around shallow developing beds.
Today's catch was all in about 20' of ...

Hodges Report 3-16

It was a slow start but ended up with 5 fish...not bad for my 1st outing of the year at Hodges...I threw a bunch of stuff early, first trip...lots of off season tackle purchases. But the first fish was on a texas rigged baby brush hog.

Then I tried more of that and got ...

Hodges report March 17

Made it out early to Hodges on Sunday morning, which was no small effort, since I was celebrating a friend's birthday the night before. Got on the water and it was 60.5 F and there was that really cool fog over the lake so you couldn't really see very far. It was a very nice day on the water. I got ...

3/18-Calm before the Storm

I wanted to fish this morning and even with the threat of severe thundershowers, I figured a few hours is better than nothing,
Loaded my kayak on the truck and didn't bring much tackle but had rain pants and jacket packed just in case. When I got to
the San Diego river is was clam and actually ...

Lake Murray 12.3 pound bass caught.

How we miss this?

Your home lake Vinny!

LA MESA— Winter fishing at Lake Murray was uncharacteristically sluggish, but things picked up on the bass scene a couple weeks ago when respectable numbers of 2- to 4-pound ...

Murray 3/20

I haven't posted for a while so I thought I'd share a few photos from my trip to Murray today. I ended up with 23 trout and 14 bass over the last 2 days there. All fish were caught on small jigs with my BFS gear. They just stocked trout again, and I spotted some bass on beds.

Fun times!

3/21-Lake Poway Exploratory trip

Took off to Lake Poway mostly on an exploratory mission and to get a few hours of fishing in from shore. I had not been up to Lake
Poway for a very long time and figured I would go take a look. I did expect a few trout fishermen but never expected so many of
them on a Thursday morning. It was ...

Murray report March 22

Made it out to Lake Murray for the first time with John W. What a nice lake. Met VinnyBass first thing and had a good chat and we went to the water with a clear plan. Had a great time buzzing about and trying to catch, well, anything. We picked up one nice 2.5# bass early in our day on a small ...

Hodges report March 23

Got there bright and early and waited in line again. This time they did open, so that felt like a small victory. :)

Got on the water and noted that the water was already 64F. Dead calm, no wind at all. So the lake was literally telling me today would be a topwater day. Or so I thought. I picked ...

Re: Spring fishing at the fave

I never had issues with ikas and hookups. I use super line wide gap hooks, rigged reverse with skirt in the front and weedless just like T RIG.
I fish them like dads, stitch em. And when the fish are chewing them good, I’ll fish two rods with a loop of line hanging. Most bites are when they are ...

Re: Spring fishing at the fave

I do both. I fish them T. Rigged and off center skin hooked to one side, then when the "wear out" i hook them through the skirt on an open hook. I figure they're a free bonus lure at this point

Re: Spring fishing at the fave

Of course it has to be structure appropriate.

To be honest i use senkos and ikas about 1hr a year, its a last resort if/when im super desperate. Im dont enoy that type of bassin much.

Yes i know they work, ...still not my style

Re: Spring fishing at the fave

Just to add my 2 cents: Everyone has their way of rigging it, but this is the way I used to rig the IKA.

I use a weedless wire hook

and a nail weight in the back end.

Hodges report March 27

Hello all,

We got out on the water at 0645. The usual Hodges fog was present and water temp was around 61-62 F. I started along the shoreline and picked up a couple sample size bass ( around a pound or so ). Picked around with the popper and got a couple swirls but again no takers. I had a bait I ...
